A Romulan distress signal is intercepted, from an area within territory claimed by the Federation - and this isn't just any signal, but one bearing the code signatures of the Roman intelligence agency, the Tal Shiar. Racing to to the scene is the USS Robert Stout, seeking to render assistance, get answers, and perhaps score a quiet victory for Starfleet Intelligence in the process.
